Denimville selects Coats Digital’s Manufacturing Planning and Control solution to support further growth
Guatemala’s leading fashion denim producer, is implementing FastReactPlan (previously Evolve) solution to reduce lead times and WIP, and improve productivity.
Denimville (previously named Deminatrix) SA, in Guatemala City, produce fashion denim jeans for premium brands and retailers, including Abercrombie & Fitch, True Religion and Quicksilver. With approximately 2,000 employees, Denimville is one of the largest denim apparel manufacturers in the Western Hemisphere, and have a reputation for high quality, innovative, ‘on trend’ products, frequently with a distinctive vintage feel.
Denimville offer customers vertically integrated solutions, coordinating product development from yarn to garment finishing in a way that maximises innovation at competitive prices. A deep knowledge of the market and key trends, allied to specialised dry and wet processing expertise, and a focus on fit and construction detail, give Denimville customers an advantage in the ever changing, highly competitive fashion denim marketplace.
Erik Johannessen, CIO at Denimville, commented, “As part of a strategy to accelerate profitable business growth, and respond to market and customer demands for increased flexibility and reduced lead time, whilst maintaining price points, we have undertaken a detailed review of business processes and systems. During this exercise, it became clear that the largely manual methods for manufacturing planning and control so common in the industry, (with independent planning of different processes), were very labour intensive and did not provide the level of visibility, control and efficiency that the business required to take performance to the next level.
“We quickly identified Fast React’s (now Coats Digital) planning and control software, developed specifically for fashion manufacturers, as the solution most likely to meet our requirements and drive improved business performance. The rapid implementation, proven business benefits, compelling ROI, and, extremely positive feedback from a number of fashion manufacturers (in Guatemala and around the world) who had implemented FastReactPlan (previously named Evolve), resulted in our company deciding to prioritise the project and move quickly to implement the system.”
Fast React’s (Coats Digital) market-leading, highly visual, FastReactPlan planning and control solution, provides a single point of reference for all departments, and supports fast, accurate and efficient planning by simultaneously and dynamically considering the three key planning criteria: capacity (primary and secondary), pre-production critical path (time and action) and materials. FastReactPlan is a modular solution, and the modules and configuration of the solution for Denimville will include line level planning of sewing and the scheduling of secondary operations, host order substitution, full critical path management (with clear priorities and early warning of potential issues) and full materials requirements planning (MRP).
Gary Thompson, Commercial Director – Brands at Coats Digital said, “We are delighted to add Denimville to our growing list of customers in Central America, and excited to be working with a great business which is well placed to take advantage of their proximity to the North American market and the migration of the denim manufacturing sector from Asia to the Americas. In an industry which has traditionally been slow in its adoption of new technology, the new owners of Denimville have moved quickly to prioritise the implementation of FastReactPlan, planning and control solution, recognising this as being crucial to driving the improved business performance, reduced lead times and price point sustainability that the market demands. We look forward to the successful completion of the project which is confidently expected to deliver a return on investment of less than 7 months”.
